The Red Tide Concern
Greetings from NEWS NOW, brought to you by SIFSG PRODUCTIONS, not to be confused with sfg productions. The big concern here in Melbourne, Florida is, the “Red Tide” occurrences causing fish kills along the coast line in abundance. Honestly, I had no idea what red tide is until I did my research.
Red tide is a natural occurrence in our ocean’s water caused by algae blooms, better known as dinoflagellates. This is a single cell organism that becomes marine life for the ocean’s ecosystem, the waters food source.
These tiny organisms multiply in numbers therefore taking out the oxygen needed for marine life. It begins with our lakes, our rivers, spilling out into the ocean. When our waterways are depleted of oxygen, toxins are released that become deadly to ocean life. Unnecessary garbage and waste that’s put into the waters creates a devastating unnatural effect to marine life.
We all need to take responsibility in keeping our waters and environment clean. It is vital we learn how to dispose of certain garbage waste, occasionally do a day clean up along the beach line as well as the environment we live in.
People, you and I can make a difference! Exercise healthy living and pass it on. Take time to thank your neighboring folks that get out and clean up our shoreline. Healthy living is put in the context of an awareness, mindfulness in our reverence to, “mother nature “and her inhabitants.
In my weekly yoga sessions, our yoga instructor emphasizes that awareness through meditation comes change.
